CNU Residence Halls Rules Article 8 (Regular Inspection)

  • The Dean can inspect a residence room if necessary for maintenance and safety management in the dormitory. Inspection is divided into regular inspections and special inspections. < Amended December 3, 2020 & November 16, 2021 >
  • Regular inspections are conducted on the first Wednesday of every month with residents at home through pre-announcement procedures, and the purpose is to check residents' status, cleaning status, indoor smoking status, and equipment. < Newly added on December 3, 2020 & November 16, 2021 & June 11, 2022 >
  • Special inspections may be made without a pre-announcement procedure or may occur in the absence of a resident, and in this case, the resident shall be notified of the inspection after completing the inspection. Cases where special inspections can be conducted are as follows. < Newly added on December 3, 2020 >
    • In case of emergency or fires, which requires immediate entry
    • When the resident is absent after revisiting for regular inspection more than twice
    • When the need to open all residence rooms arises, for instance, for thorough and complete measures against epidemics or pest control, and cleaning
    • When a reasonable belief exists that the room is being used for a purpose which is illegal or would otherwise seriously interfere with discipline and/or personal safety.
    • When the housing personnel notified the resident and received approval on the entrance without the presence of residents.

Inspection Guide

  • Date & Hours : 8 PM – 10 PM on the first Wednesday of every month (tentative). The re-inspection will be on the following Sunday after the initial inspection attempt.
  • Major Checklist : Residence Hall staff will look for prohibited items and room condition, including the evidence of smoking, cleaning status, provided equipment as well as identification of residents.
  • Notes
    • If residents fail to comply with the re-inspection, they will incur three penalty points for "failure to conduct regular inspection" and receive one penalty point every week until inspection is done.
    • If residents cannot attend the appointment time offered due to a scheduling conflict, they must contact the Residence Hall staff in advance. (Non-attendance due to personal reasons is not acceptable.)
    • Residents who do not keep their space clean and sanitary, who smoke indoors, and who bring or use prohibited items might incur penalty points or be forced to move out.
    • In the case of regular inspections conducted during vacation, residents can postpone the date of inspection if an application for a sleeping out is approved in advance. (This does not apply during the semester.) However, if residents enter the residence hall during the period of sleeping out or do not receive an inspection within a week after back to residence hall, they will incur 3 penalty points. In addition, 1 penalty point will be incurred until getting an inspection every week.

    Toilet bowl - Outside, inside, back - keep the toilet seat lid open after cleaning
    Floor and wall tiles - Remove mold between tiles
    Shelf - Remove stains and water stains

    Shower curtain - If there is mold, visit the maintenance office and have it replaced in advance.
    Drain - Remove hair and trash from the drain
    - Take out the drain trap after cleaning (There are two drains under the sink and under the shower)
    ※ If you cannot remove the drain traps, contact the maintenance office in advance. However, they cannot assist with removal during the inspection on that day.
    - Reinsert the drain cover after inspection
    (APT type - 6 persons)
    Hallway, living room
    - Clean up dust, hair, trash, and stains
    Veranda - Cleaning of fallen leaves, trash, etc.
    ※Applicable to the entire buildings 7, 8, and 9
    Window frame - Cleaning of window frames and balcony door frames

Prohibited Items

Category Contents
Heating appliances All types of electric heating devices such as electric heating pads, electric mats, hot water mats, electric blankets, electric seat cushions, electric steamers, electric steam packs, and electric fan heaters.
Cooking tools Ramen pots, electric and non-electric frying pans, gas burners, hot plates, microwaves, electric cooking pots, toasters, egg steamers, blenders, electric coffee grinders, and coffee machines. Bringing in any other cooking tools is prohibited.
Alcohol Bringing alcoholic beverages or empty alcohol bottles into the rooms is prohibited, regardless of the reason.
Others Items such as irons, flammable substances, scented candles, washing machines, electric scooters, and wax warmers.
